Ryan Talbot joined Ethos in 2018 as Director of Development after a 4 year stint at Apple in operations, procurement and product development. His appreciation for detail, aesthetics, user-focused design carry over into his work in real estate development at Ethos.
Ryan grew up in an electrical contracting family business and began his career at Ashley Capital, an industrial real estate firm that builds, owns, and operates more than 22 million square feet of warehouse and office space in the Eastern US. His work at Ashley Capital overlapped with his bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He then went on to work in Operations at WD-40 Company in San Diego where he managed the company’s freight network and was directly responsible for the environmental decontamination and successful sale of a 3rd party factory building. Ryan left WD-40 after 3 years to attend the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin where he focused on entrepreneurship and technology.
Coming out of his MBA, he was offered a position at Apple as a Global Supply Manager and was directly responsible for procurement of batteries for iPhone and Apple Watch. His work included contract and pricing negotiation, project management, process and design review, and factory management across 3 continents. He then moved on to manage the iPad product line and drove decisions on features, design, and product roadmap. While at Apple, Ryan began coursework at Harvard in Real Estate investment in preparation for the move from product development to real estate development. Ryan brings a strong attention to detail, an intuitive sense of financial analysis, and an appreciation for design from his previous work into his role at Ethos.
When he’s not working, Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, playing guitar and drums, shooting photos, and traveling the world.
